Furthmore, if rustication moved this role to a region of the UK and regional public sector wages are brought in then costs could fall further still. Personally, I'd move the MoD to southern hampshire, spread between Portsmouth (home of the RN) and Aldershot (home of the Army). I'd disband the RAF and merge it back into those 2 so all command would be in that area. 1hr on train from c.London.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6254362504495980377.post-59153284867788088112014-01-21T16:40:26.548+00:002014-01-21T16:40:26.548+00:009th Jan entry

It is probably quite valid that recruiting a CS on £20k is quite difficult and you may have to offer the post to someone from outside London who may then claim additional allowances, so the cost could rise admittedly by a small margin, In comparing CS and Military salaries you don't always compare like with like.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6254362504495980377.post-37283662990223356672013-01-14T12:01:23.764+00:002013-01-14T12:01:23.764+00:00Is "rustication" your term or the offici...Is "rustication" your term or the official one - as when I was at university one could return from rustication - and I am sure Bernard would have pointed this out to the minister.Nick Londonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6254362504495980377.post-2660181619760263922013-01-09T22:33:07.774+00:002013-01-09T22:33:07.774+00:00Thats correct - while working from home is always ...Thats correct - while working from home is always possible for unclassified work, but thats not always possible.<br />Rustification refers to the moving of Govt departments out of London and into the rest of the UK.
